A Memorandum of Understanding between the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of Afghanistan (ATRA) was signed today March 14, 2012.
The memorandum is based on the provision of free Internet services for offices of local governance, particularly the offices of provincial and district governors and mayors. The five years project worth 5 to 10 million US dollars.
Head of the Independent Directorate of local governance, Abdul Matin Bek and Mohammad Najib Azizi of ATRA also attended the ceremony. He told the media, “Creation of Internet facilities for the offices of local governance is an important step in expediting the process of supplying services and communication between local governance and Kabul.
According to the MoU the Telecom Regulatory Authority of Afghanistan (ATRA) will provide internet services to the provincial and district administrations and the provincial councils and mayors.
