First Meeting of National Network Municipal Revenue Officials that organized by IDLG gathered municipal revenue officials together with a theme of “MUNICIPAL REVENUE GENERATION” from 33 provinces. The program launched on Oct 06, 2019 for three days.
The Municipal Revenue Program is provided by the joint venture efforts of SHAHAR and IDLG. The program consists of multiple session to enlighten municipal revenue officials on the different revenue sources and applicable laws in the administration and collection process.
Abdul Baqi Popul, DM of Municipalities, at the opening session added that, “the meeting aimed at exchanging experiences between municipal revenue managers of 34 provinces and enhancing their capacity in regards to the revenue collection”. According to him, creating good urban governance, increase the knowledge of all major components in property tax collection; increase the knowledge of the different taxes and revenue sources; equip local governments with the tools and resources needed in the administration of the various revenue sources; increasing revenue and providing services are among the most important agenda of the three days gathering.
Mohammad Nasir Hamidi General Director of Urban Governance addressing the participants underlined the importance of the meeting and said provincial technical and sectorial departments play a key role in the administration and improvements of urban governance and revenue generation.
A working group on privatization, which comprised experts from different stakeholders including the contractor discussed and deliberated on issues relevant to major sources of municipal revenue.
