Kabul, July 28, 2019: The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Civil Society Organizations and Networks at the sub-national level, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase and boost effective communication between departments and civil society that has a positive impact on the process of litigation and institutionalization of accountability.
The agreement was signed in accordance with the laws and policies of the country between IDLG and civil society organizations and networks at the sub-national level.
Mr. Timor Sharan in his speech added that, “the MOU aims to enhance, develop and strengthen joint cooperation between the IDLG, local administration and civil society organizations and networks in the provincial planning process, provincial budgets, social accountability campaigns, public needs and relevant complaints in regards to the good governance, it’s worth to mention that, CSOs play major roles in good governance by conducting robust monitoring and oversight of local institutional reforms and their impacts.”
He also pointed that, a main component of the MoU is to rise effectiveness of CSOs in enforcing accountability in provincial level and IDLG local administrations are committed to working with civil society in order to improve information sharing mechanism in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile the participants in the following gathering spoke about the well coordination among CSOs and local administrations defending their rights.
