Daikundi: Eng. Zohra Ahmadi, Mayor of Nili honored by UN

Eng. Khadijah Zohra Ahmadi, mayor of the Nili municipality was honored by the representative of the Secretary General of United Nations for her courage and leadership.

She is identified as one among the 10 heroic and influential women from Afghanistan.

Mrs. Ahmadi holds a masters degree in engineering. She has also worked with the United Nations in Afghanistan.

Achievements:

Since her appointment as mayor of Nili municipality, with the partnership of the private sector, the revenue of Nili municipality is increased by 74%. Mrs. Ahmadi encouraged residents of Nili city to pay regularly the cleaning services fee and implemented development projects besides providing urban services with participatory approach.

Mrs. Ahmadi has formed women committee to monitor issues, faced by the public. Due to her approach, local shuras’ are implementing development projects and monitor the projects as well. Mrs. Ahmadi has submitted a plan for the construction of women recreation and sports complex, which will be implemented by the end of 1398.

Maintaining and strengthening the rural areas as a hub for agriculture, fighting corruptions and recovery of embezzled land is among her achievements.
