70 Candidates appear in written test for 11 posts of mayors

A number of 70 candidates shortlisted by the recruitment committee participated in the written test conducted for the 11 vacant posts of mayors of provincial and district municipalities.

Successful candidates will be appointed as mayors of Baghlan, Torkham, Shindand, Balkh, Khanabad, Imam Sahib, Aqcha, Qaysaar, Nahar Seraj, Andkhoy and Dasht e Qala municipalities.

Rohullah Niazi, deputy minister of finance and administration of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) says, “IDLG according to the procedure of the recruitment policy of mayors selects the successful candidates through the open competition.”

He said, questionnaire is related to the responsibilities of the mayors and is in accordance with the procedure approved by the Independent Administrative Reform and Civil Service Commission (IARCSC).

According to Niazi, as per new procedure, three candidates with the highest marks attained in the open competition process will be sent to the president office, where final selection of a candidate for the post of mayor will be made by the president.

Baryalay Helmand Commissioner of the IARCSC board of recruitment, members of the Integrity watch and civil society also supervised the written test.
